1986: Structural Systems Inc. Started in Charleston, WV with one employee (Mike Murray) as an engineering firm performing detailing services for the local fabricators and general contractors in the area. 

February 2000 Eric Semrau partnered up with Mike Murray and started a steel brokerage business in which we designed, bid and managed steel projects for the area’s contractors and fabricators. 

January 2002 Mike & Eric merged Structural Systems Inc. With custom rail and fabrication (a 7,000 sq-ft. Facility) located in Dunbar, WV. Along with making its owner Jim Vandal a partner.  This gave us the ability to perform our own fabrication of steel projects for our customers.  Our business and customer base grew substantially.

January 2005 we purchased the republic container building and property (a 7 acre & 53,000 sq-ft. Facility) located in Nitro, WV.   This purchase was necessitated by our growing need to furnish larger projects which we could not accommodate at our Dunbar location.
